It’s back, bigger and better than last year! Auckland Sword and Shield are holding the Steve Hodgson Memorial Tournament 2016. We have an even larger venue this year (with more parking) and it’s going to be much better for spectators and players alike.
This tournament is geared to put fun, participation, and demonstration of skills ahead of winning at all costs. Novice players are encouraged to enter to improve their skills fighting under pressure and to encounter fighting styles from multiple clubs. Experienced players are encouraged to demonstrate their skills and technique while resisting the urge to ‘play it safe’.
The format has been expanded along with the venue to feature two days of competitions with ultimate glory up for grabs with the title of “Tournament Champion.”
- Tournament Beginners Competition & Steel Single Sword (run concurrently)
- Open Single Sword
- Open Longsword
- Open Spear & Rapier (run concurrently)
- Team Competitions
- Display Tournament
- Mixed Weapon
Competitions start at 9am on both days and run to 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday.
The cost to enter is just $30 for both days and includes lunch. Parking is free in the school grounds.
To enter the tournament please register online. You can enter on the day but it will cost $5 more and it’ll take longer since you’ll need to fill out paper forms etc.
